Gluon Saturation and the Formation Stage of Heavy Ion Collisions
نویسنده
چکیده
The high energy limit of QCD is controlled by very high energy density gluonic matter, the Color Glass Condensate. In the first instants of the collisions of two sheets of Colored Glass Condensate, a Glasma is formed with longitudinal flux tubes of color electric and color magnetic fields. These flux tubes decay and might form a turbulent liquid that eventually thermalizes into a Quark Gluon Plasma.

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...
متن کاملUnderstanding saturation and AA collisions with an eA collider
The initial conditions in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions are determined by the small momentum fraction part of the nuclear wavefunction. This is the regime of gluon saturation and the most direct way to experimentally study it would be deep inelastic scattering at a high energy electron ion collider (EIC). This talk discusses some of the connections between physics at the EIC and the in...
متن کاملSaturation Physics in Heavy Ion Collisions
We discuss expectations of saturation physics for various observables in heavy ion collisions. We show how simple saturation-inspired assumptions about particle production in heavy ion collisions lead to Kharzeev-Levin-Nardi model. Comparing this model to RHIC data on particle multiplicities we conclude that saturation effects may play an important role in particle production and dynamics at th...
متن کاملCoherent and incoherent diffractive hadron production in pA collisions and gluon saturation
We study coherent and incoherent diffractive hadron production in high-energy quarkonium–heavy nucleus collisions as a probe of the gluon saturation regime of quantum chromodynamics. Taking this process as a model for pA collisions, we argue that the coherent diffractive gluon production, in which the target nucleus stays intact, exhibits a remarkable sensitivity to the energy, rapidity, and at...
متن کاملJ/Ψ production in heavy ion collisions and gluon saturation
We calculate the inclusive J/Ψ production in heavy ion collisions including the effects of gluon saturation in the wave functions of the colliding nuclei. We argue that the dominant production mechanism in proton–nucleus and nucleus–nucleus collisions for heavy nuclei is different from the one in hadron-hadron interactions. We find that the rapidity distribution of primary J/Ψ production is mor...
